I don't really know what we were expecting but we have had another air bed with a "Whisper Quiet" pump and it took forever to blow up the air chambers and it would always overheat. This pump is very powerful and really pretty quiet. We really like the "Bed Fill" feature.

We had another companies "Whisper Quiet" pump and it was a piece of junk. We sent the entire bed back! We got our Series 8 Bed and upgraded to the S.Q. Pump and it is well worth the minimal upgrade.

I was sceptical about a "Quiet Pump" but this unit is just that. It is not "silent" but it does not knock you out of bed, like a vacuum exhaust would do. Filled my bed in about 4 minutes.
